Dear Tarja, you've reached the big career on the stage. What's the secret of your inspiration? What makes you go on?

TARJA: My inspiration is my voice. There is always something to learn from it. Even though I have been singing all my life, I can not say that I could sing without any problems yet. That adventure into my own body keeps me going.

What way to your career would you prefer: opera-diva as Kiri Tekanowa and Sumi Jo or pop-diva as Sarah Brightman and Emma Shapplin? and why?

TARJA: I wouldn't like to go in any of those directions. They are very talented artists, but I have my own idea of the direction I want to take as a solo singer.

Your stage dresses are very beautiful. Who contrives them?

TARJA: One very good friend of mine has been helping me to design my performing clothes. I met her already when I was 10 years old. We exchange ideas together and finally she makes the dresses for me.

In December you plan to visit Russia with the shows. What do you wait from them?

TARJA: I have been missing a lot the fans in Russia. I didn't have a chance to go there in many years, so now I am waiting my concerts to happen. I am going to perform with a band and some classical instruments. On my last Xmas tour I was doing entirely acoustic concerts, but this time the situation is different. The program will include some Finnish traditional Xmas songs, international Xmas songs and also some new Xmas songs. I am looking forward to meet my fans, to have time to enjoy their company and to offer them a warm Xmas feeling through the music.

Your first solo album will be called "Breath from Heaven". Why did you choose this name? What do you want your listener to think and feel when he listen to your album for the first time?

TARJA: "Breath from Heaven" is NOT going to be my first solo album. This Christmas 2006 I will release a Xmas album in Finland. This album is called "Breath from Heaven" and it has nothing to do with my forthcoming solo album. I chose that name as a continuing step for my Xmas single "One Angel's Dream". The title "Breath from Heaven" has a special meaning for me, but I think that everybody should find their own meaning for it. You can think about it yourself and you'll find a meaning suitable for you. Christmas time is very important in Finland and we have many artists performing and making albums during that time. I just wish that in next Christmas everybody could be with their families and share time with their loved ones. Music is my way to share with you this important time of the year.
My first solo album doesn't have a name yet and that album in planned for 2007 if everything goes fine with it.

If there will be some proposals to take part in some projects with some metal band, would you agree? What band would you choose to work with? Would it be some rock, power, gothic or progressive band, name a few?

TARJA: I have been receiving nice proposals from many bands and I would like to thank them all. I am very open and interested to do different kind of collaborations, but sometimes only problem with that is the time.

Is there any song you listen to no matter you are in a good or bad mood?

TARJA: I don't have one particular song. I listen music all the time.

Will you take part in "Infinity" project once again?

TARJA: No. I know that Beto is working on his second album, but I am not going to be part of it this time. We are anyway keeping in contact and I wish him good luck with that album and musical career.

Your brother Timo Turunen has started his music career. Was it your influence to his decision?

TARJA: I have been supporting him since he made his decision to start making his dream come true through singing. He has always had a nice, warm voice, but only now he is convinced that he really could make many people happy with it. I hope everything goes fine with his new career. We are very close and daily in touch, so of course he feels that my support is one of the most important ones for him.

Do you plan to become a mother? If your child would like to become an artist as you are, would you help?

TARJA: I would love to become a mother when I am ready. It is a big life change and with it comes a big responsibility that lasts your whole life. I wouldn't like to make these kinds of decisions in a hurry. I think I still need to wait a bit to get my life in balance. Right now the time is not correct. I would love to help my child the best way possible, if he/she decides to become an artist. That would be my dream come true.

What do you think about a fact that Nightwish have started a competition on their web-page to find a new singer?

TARJA: I am not really following their activities that much, but I am sure they will do their best to find a new singer for Nightwish.

Would you buy next Nightwish album?

TARJA: I hope they can send it to me!

What's the last album you bought?

TARJA: Musical "Les Miserables".

If one day you decide to stop singing on the stage what occupation would you choose? and why?

TARJA: I would decide to stop singing only, if I would loose my voice completely. That would be my worst nightmare. Anyway, to answer Your question, I would become an actress, because I love to be on stage in front of the audience. Theatre has always interested me.

Is there anything in your life you had no time to do?

TARJA: I don't want to think that I have lost completely the opportunity to do something I want in life. My goal is to go ahead and to follow my instincts.

Do you think that "lie in safe" is possible?

TARJA: No I don't. Lie has always shorter wings.

What makes you happy?

TARJA: My family and their love, close friendships, the sun, a simple smile everyday...there are many things in life that are making me happy every day.

There're a lot of young singers all over the world, but some of them don't believe in themselves. What can you say to make them believe?

TARJA: I have gone a long way to become what I am today. It didn't come on it's own, but it came with a hard work and trust on myself. You are your best critic of yourself. Listen to yourself, be honest to yourself and try. If you fail once, you can succeed the next time. Singing is a learning process where you walk step by step. Sometimes when taking a big step ahead, next day you need to admit that you have lost what you have just learned. To become a singer, you need to let yourself to do mistakes, otherwise you won't ever learn. It takes time. Nobody will discover you at home either. You need to try to make the people listen to you. With trust, with reasonable self esteem and confidence, you can make wonders!

How many hours a day you spend training your voice?

TARJA: It always depends on my mood. Sometimes very intimate training of half an hour is much better than singing 3 hours without thinking. Normally, daily, I am practising couple of hours.

What your fans mean for you?

TARJA: Without my fans, I wouldn't be here replying this interview. They mean a world to me. I am very grateful for the amazing support I have been receiving during many years. I am singing for You and I hope this is only the beginning. Thank You for being there for me.
