Question:
From Carson:
Hey I am a guy who loves your music. Why is it that some dudes don't listen to female vocalists? They are just as good as males and sometimes even better (hint hint). One of my fave songs off the new album is Last of the Wilds. Was this song influenced by how much you love being outside and actually being in the wilds? Love the new work you guys have been doing!!!Very HappyVery Happy

Answer:
Hi, I have no clue why some guys don&acutet like female bands, but maybe they have difficulties with ladies in all areas, haha? (blink blink=)
About the The Last of the Wilds, I can&acutet answer this since it&acutes Tuomas who wrote the song, not me.

Question:
From Mark in New Zealand:
I love your voice, very easy on the ears. I always wondered, since Nightwish are Finnish and you're Swedish, how do you guys communicate? In English, or do you know some Finnish/Do they know Swedish? Also, how did you learn English?
(And I'll throw in the generic question: When are you coming to my home country [New Zealand]?)

Answer:
Hi and thanks for your nice words about my voice. We communicate in English and I understand some Finnish and the guys some Swedish so it&acutes a mix of everything here. I have studied English in school since I was 8 years old and then I have continued studying the more advanced English over the years and also worked with English all my life. So I feel that English is very natural for me and I try to only read English books instead of Swedish to learn more.
I am sorry to say that we at the moment don&acutet have any gigs booked in your country. The nearest place is Australia. Sorry...

Question:
From Jorge in Argentina:
Hello anette my question is what was the most difficult thing for you in your music career and what do you expect in the future with Nightwish? By the way the new album really rocks and I hope you can tour South America and Argentina. Goodbye and good luck to all the band.

Answer:
Hi Jorge. I think the most difficult thing has been all those years when I strived so hard to make it as a full-time singer but every time I was turned down or the people in the business proved themselves to be assholes that only wanted to use you. Luckily I found Nightwish to prove that there also are many nice people in this business=)
And thanks so much for your nice words. We will tour South America later this year, so hope to see you then!

Question:
From Adam Bobro in Canada:
I recently saw Nightwish perform live in Toronto, amazing show!! I was just wondering what the title of your intro song was, before you opened with "Bye Bye Beautiful."

Answer:
Hi, first of all, great that you liked the show! It was awesome for us too, the audience was just great!
To your questions: the song is from the soundtrack of Passion of the Christ and it&acutes called Resurrection and is written by John Debney.

Question:
From Asmodey in Croatia:
What did you guys think about your first gig in Zagreb-Croatia?

Answer:
I am sorry, but since I haven&acutet played there I can&acutet answer this question. Looking forward to play there though:=)

Question:
From Anonymous on The Internet:
Were you in any other band before Nightwish?

Answer:
Yes, it&acutes been quite many bands over the years. No famous ones though, but one was called Alyson Avenue and we released two albums.

Question:
From Bryan on The Internet:
You have a very good vocal range on DPP. How long have you been taking voice lessons if any?

Answer:
Hi Bryan, I took lessons once a week between the age of 17 and 21, then nothing until a few refreshing ones now since I joined Nightwish.

Question:
From AJ on The Internet:
What's it like singing the older Nightwish songs that you didn't record? Do you try to replicate some of Tarja's style or do you just put your own stamp on them?

Answer:
Hi. I have never tried to copy Tarja, no use, since we have so different voices and technique. I try to sing them so that they feel good for me and still sound quite similar to the original.

Question:
From Milica on The Internet:
Is it difficult for you to be apart from your family during this long tour and how do you stand that?

Answer:
Hi Milica. Yes, it can be quite hard to be away, since I really miss my child. But time goes very fast on tour and the time when I am at home, I try to be with him as much as possible.

Question:
From Krista in the United States:
How has this tour been different from other tours you've done?

Answer:
Hi Krista. I have never toured this heavily before so it&acutes the first time and it is hard to compare this to anything else.

Question:
From Veronica in the United States:
What drew you to audition for Nightwish?

Answer:
I was looking for a full-time job as a singer and was in the way of sending applications to many different jobs at the time. Got a tip from my sound-engineer in one band I sang with, that Nighwish needed a singer and after some thinking, I sent my demo.

Question:
From Paul Hankins in the United States:
Would you mind meeting some of my high school writing students at the Louisville, KY show in May? They are really excited about seeing the show. . .we are doing a unit on epic poetry using Dark Passion Play as a foundation for the unit. . .

Answer:
Hi Paul and thanks for your invitation. It all really depends on our schedules which I don&acutet know at all, so I have to ask you to send a request to our management, which you can find the address to on our website.

Question:
From Anonymous on The Internet:
Do you like Marco's beard?

Answer:
Hi there! Oh yes, I do!! I&acutets great to hold on to if it&acutes too windy outside=)

Question:
From Robin in Norway:
I just wonder which song is vocally hardest for you to perform live?

Answer:
Hei på deg! I think it depends on the day and how my mood and voice is that day, but She is My Sin is pretty high and takes a lot of strain on my voice.

Question:
From Anonymous on The Internet:
If you could play with any other band besides Nightwish, which would it be?

Answer:
Well, I don&acutet have any plans of singing with another band than NW, so hard question... but I think Emppus Brother Firetribe would suite me very well.

Question:
From James on The Internet:
Are Nightwish planning any covers and which 3 songs would you like to cover?

Answer:
No, nothing as far as I know. Hmm, I think Kiss song Sure Know Something, Abbas Mamma Mia and maybe Steelhearts She&acutes Gone.

Question:
From Brad in the United States:
First off, I saw you perform at the Nokia Theater in NYC, as well as the signing at Vintage Vinyl in NJ. You were absolutely amazing, especially on the older songs and succeeded in making them your own. I was just curious if you started listening to other metal bands, now that you find yourself in one?

Answer:
Hi Brad, thanks a lot for your nice words! It makes me extra pleased since I was very ill at both of those gigs and had a hard time and really had to re-make the songs for those gigs, so makes me relieved that you still enjoyed it. Thanks! I have started to listen to a lot of metal now, yes. I think it&acutes good to make some listening to be able to get some vibes from other singers and bands.

Question:
From Curtis on The Internet:
Will you marry me?

Answer:
Hi Curtis,
Thats a very flattering question that I will take in consideration, but maybe we need to get to know each others first? =)

Question:
From Brian on The Internet:
What was the inspiration for the song Sahara?

Answer:
This is really a question for Tuomas, since he wrote it. Sorry.

Question:
From Daniel on The Internet:
What do you think of the many female-fronted Dutch symphonic/gothic metal bands, like Epica, After Forever, Within Temptation?

Answer:
It&acutes great that there are so many female-fronted bands! I like all of these bands and they have all my support in the world.

Question:
From Jeremy in the United States:
Can you introduce me to the other women in the "Bye Bye Beautiful" video?

Answer:
Hi, they were all models that we chose from a casting. More than that I don&acutet know, sorry.

Did you have any input on the album artwork for Dark Passion Play?

Answer:
Hi, no it was Tuomas who was the creative person behind that.

Question:

Which country that you have not visited before are you most looking forward to seeing while on tour?

Answer:
I am in China at the moment and that was one place I wanted to see. Also Australia, Iceland and more of the USA.

From Anonymous on The Internet:
Did you study music and if so, where?

Answer:
Hi. Not music university, but I have been to a musical artist shool and also played oboe for eight years, so I do know how to read music.

Question:
From Stefano in Italy:
How do you memorize all of those songs?

Answer:
By singing them over and over. I have a very good lyrics memory which is very useful of course.
