"In addition to several holiday and gig trips I have once made a trip around the world. It was in the year 2001 and the most memorable place was the Easter Island. I arrived there during the off-season in April and was the only lodger in the 30 room hotel.
Having read Kon-Tiki and other books by Thor Heyerdahl (1914-2002) I was moved when I was boarded into the same room where this famous Norwegian expeditioneer had lived. The couple who owned the hotel had got to know him well once and had plenty of stories to tell.
There was something mystical about the place, statues and all. Quite frankly I felt like the island had been dropped to that spot straight from the space. It's like it doesn't belong to this world of ours. One day I rented a bicycle. The island is quite small, only 2500 inhabitants and the area only 20x10 kilometers or something. I ended up to the tallest spot on the island and as I was watching the ocean and the herds of the wild horses, a melody started playing in my head. Right on that spot was born the main melody of our song Ocean Soul. It was the time before iPods so I hummed the theme quickly to a Dictaphone. And this is a true story.

More ordinary wild experiences I've had in the jungles of Thailand in the group of a local Indiana Jones. There we climbed down the side of a 50-meters-tall waterfall without life-lines and in the evening we plucked leeches from our skin.
In Egypt on a camel safari one of the humped creatures decided to bolt under me. There we went about 60 kms/h towards the desert! I had never before ridden even a horse, but by pulling the harness I managed to make the creature stop. That camel was nothing like its name, which was Bob Marley.

I still have plenty of dreams left. I'd like to go around the world without a plane and for example visit the Southern Africa. As well I'd love to visit Titanic. There are diving bell trips to the wreck that cost 10 000 euros. I usually go traveling to gain experiences. I can relax in the cottage island of my family, in Lapland hiking or at home. The roofing party was yesterday, by the way."

The guys talk for example about how it is a sign of true friendship that they can sit quietly in the car the whole way from Kitee to Lappeenranta (which is some 80 kms I think) without feeling awkward, how great they think it is that Tuomas has become a part of the KT team so effortlessly and how Tuomas would like to be more open and heartfelt in interviews but if he is, the things he says end up in headlines. Both guys wish media would be more respectful towards their privacy. "Why the hell should the people of Finland know what kind of place the composer genius of Nightwish lives in? Incomprehensible stuff!" says Hynynen. "'People have a right to know' is one of the most annoying explanations I've heard," Tuomas adds.

Tuomas's advice to Jouni: "Whatever you do, don't listen to my advice!"

Jouni's advice to Tuomas: "He has things under control. If the man is sometimes worried about women, I can say that he'll find the right one when the time is right. But now the things are so hectic that it may take some time."
