A women in her prime
Nightwish's former singer Tarja Turunen makes her solo album in Ireland's country side in the same studio as Bono. Music is a top priority to Tarja who turns 30 soon, but there's more in her future. - I hope God will grant us children someday.

The random traveller has no business to the place where Tarja Turunen greets journalists. The curving village road has turned into a private area, greeness and sheep surround the yard.
At the destination pictures are being taken. Tarja poses next to four different men, husband Marcelo Cabuli takes the pictures.
In the first ones Tarja smiles next to the bass player Doug Wimbish.
- Unfortenately I only saw Rolling Stones' Ron Wood from behind, when Wood came to loan his bass to Doug, Tarja tells.
Doug Wimbish is the former bass player of Living Colour and one of the four musicians playing on Tarja's solo album.
When arriving at the studio the 29 year old Tarja was shy - probably both because of the musicians and the enviroment. Tarja knew that in the biggest studio reseved for her R.E.M would play next.
- I felt like a small mouse, but the musicians' positivity and dedication to the project relaxed me, Tarja says.
The common tune was found fast outside the studio as well. For example Doug has the habit of screaming 'hello, miss sunshine' before Tarja even sits in the breakfest table.
While taking pictures Wimbish asks Tarja to check his hair. The man borrowing the rocklegend's bass hasn't found a dreadlocks maker. Them - or people with dreadlocks - aren't swarming around here.

Tarja came to her hiding place in Ireland through Ibiza. In Ibiza she and the keyboardist Torsten Stenzel made songs.
- I'll record my vocals in Ibiza, where Torsten helped me find a really inspiring enviroment, Tarja says.
Here in Grouse Lodge we have just heard that Bono will take over the biggest studio after Tarja and R.E.M.
An international record giant is making Tarja's expensive album possible. The contract with German Universal was done already before October 2005 when Nightwish fired their singer with an internet letter.
- Everything starts with feeling good. I've never felt the same connection with a band, and on the other hand I've never before been responsible for everything, Tarja describes her current situation.
Tarja points to her Nightwish career with the phrase per aspera ad astra (lit. "to the stars through difficulties" ), through hardships to victory. Otherwise she has decided not to talk about her firing from Nightwish anymore.

The drummer playing on Tarja's solo album Earl Harvin has finished his part today.
- To celebrate we'll open a bottle of wine in the evening and look to the future, Tarja tells.
She hopes that at least some of the musicians on the album will be able to loosen themselves for the world tour starting next year.
- We have been allowed to do the album without specific dates. I don't know the album's release date, but it will be this year.
The tour next year will take Tarja to Europe, United States, South-America, the Far East and Russia. But in a sensible pace that Tarja hopes.
- I want to in the future get to know the cities I'm performing in. To this point I've been to too many places I have no image of, Tarja says.

Tarja has fallen head over heels in love with the Irish peace of nature. She and Marcelo have run around fields and village roads, but to Dublin, which Tarja has always wanted to see, they don't have time for on this trip.
- We work from morning to late at night, with certain breaks. Like today I'm going to swim at some point, Tarja tells. The studio milieu is a mix of luxury and homelikeness. In the 18th century stone buildings are for example a jacuzzi and a swimming pool but despite the stars working in the area the laundry is drying outside and the dogs are running free.
Tarja and Marcelo are put up in an apartment, where Michael Jackson lived with his children a month last year. The Jacksons stayed in Grouse Lodge for four months.
Turunen's living room's wall is decoreted with an Indian fabric, narrow spiral staircase goes upstairs.
Tarja and Marcelo have lately only popped in Finland. Tarja tries desperately to hang on to everyday life at home.
- When I come home I always pick up the vacuum cleaner and mop first - no matter how far I come from or how tired I am.
Tarja's diligence amuses her friends. They take care of Tarja and Marcelo's post that comes to Kuusankoski while the couple is away.
- We don't have flowers since I don't want to bother our friends too much, Tarja says.

Invitations to perform come to Tarja daily. Positive replys are hard to get.
- Making the album is a priority to me. In fact my happy state is based on the unknown - to what the album brings when it's released.
Confidence grows while doing. Tarja has started to prepare her dad, who misses his only daughter to the idea that they might see even less of each other in the future.
- Though we've had big phone bills before, Tarja reminds.

Tarja believes she can handle the gig hullabaloo, even if the solo album gets a better receiving than expected.
- I'm sure I can enjoy the success and the fact my head and physics can take it. I've gone through so many ditches and ponds that I fear nothing.
Tarja also takes calmly the fact that she turns 30 in August. On the contrary, it's good for the solo career that she had experiences behind her - and trials.
- Furthermore - Marcelo will immediately intervene if he sees I feel akward about something. Marcelo can practecly read my mind, Tarja thanks.

The couple met in 2000. Tarja has told to her husband about the belief that they should be dwelling in their 7th year crisis.
- We laughed at that. We can't ourselves almost understand how the love and understanding between us can continue growing, Tarja says.
She strongly believes in the one and only right (person).
- I hope that God will grant us children some day. My biological clock isn't ticking yet, but on the other hand I know there isn't a so called perfect time to have children.
Her German-American band has returned to the studio right after taking the hug pictures. Marcelo has also gone by in the studio enviroment a few times during Tarja's interview, almost running. Tarja also has to move to listen her band's accomplishments. While leaving Tarja emphasizes the gratitude she feels towards the moment.
- I've been through the little tangles, I have the gift of singing and I feel that I'm a woman in my prime. Every night when I go to bed I thank for all of the good I have received.
